Kasol, a village full of diverse fun.

I had so many questions and was curious about the place until I visited it. Have you ever heard about a place where all aspirations of the journey can be fulfilled in a smooth way? No matter, if you are looking for Natural Views, markets, food options, and smoking preferences. Kasol is the village that has it all. The first time, I heard the word Kasol at my workplace where colleagues were explaining it for their smoking preferences in a cool vibe and cool place.

I thought Kasol is especially a village that provides you access to fulfill your smoking dose however, I was not 100 percent right. With all the curiosity in mind, I decided to visit the village with my friend and gain real experience. After all the research and information collection, I boarded a bus that started the journey from Delhi.

Upon arriving in the fresh morning of Kasol, the first thing that hit my mind was the beauty of the Parvati River, which flows continuously and roars alongside the village. You will get to see crystal water flowing by rugged mountains and dense pine forests. But, I can’t guarantee the same vibe throughout the year as the season keeps changing. Anyway, that was the moment I started breathing deeply and soaking in the vibe.

Those valleys and river views will instantly eradicate the congestion, bustling scenes, and chaos that you observe in day-to-day life from your mind. The variety of cafes and small custom roadside shops create a wow impression. Your options for drink, food, and shopping start here. An interesting part that Kasol got it’s name from Lord Shiva’s consort Parvati. Shiva who sat and meditated here for 3000 years in the valley.

I started the day at Sony Cottage riverside café, full of scenic views and thrilling vibe. As usual, we were bound to click the breathtaking pictures of the Sun rising along with the mountains. We walked around the Kasol and found many charming stays and dorms. We booked one and headed towards the bustling market. While passing the way, I found a few Israeli backpackers. They were smoking weed. Since I had a friend with me named “Brajesh Nayak’ who smokes weed. He accepted the offer given by the Israeli as a goodwill gesture.

Generally, I don’t smoke as I prefer to consume alcohol occasionally but I went for it with my friend to taste a flavor. After smoking and discussing, we ended up making them friends. Later on, we felt that Kasol is also a one-stop solution for a variety of smoking stuff. My friend was fully impressed with the variety of stuff as well as the company given by Israeli folks. He decided to buy more stuff and have a different taste and vibe. This is how we enjoyed the time.

It was evening and we were looking for a place that could provide us with a smooth music and food experience. We decided to go to a nearby cafe named “Panjtara Cafe and Bar’.  At this cafe music, food, decoration, interior vibe and liquor options were as per our expectations. Our enjoyment continued from morning to midnight. Ultimately, we decided to close the day on an exciting note.

On the 2nd day of our journey, I acquired information about the nearby places and things to explore from Kasol. I found one of the biggest advantages of visiting Kasol is that it gives access to some of the most stunning trekking routes in the Himalayas. It offers a chance to connect with nature, while also providing ample opportunities for adventure.

Kheerganga Trek is one of them. It is quite popular amongst trekking enthusiasts as the trek starts from the Kasol only. A moderate trek of about 13 kilometers, it typically takes 5-6 hours to reach the hot springs at Kheerganga. The path passes through lush forests, with the sound of the Parvati River accompanying you along the way. As you ascend, the air becomes cooler, and the scenery shifts from dense woods to panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks.

Once you reach Kheerganga, you get access to incredible things. The natural hot springs invite you to relax and rejuvenate after a long trek. Surrounded by mountains, soaking in the warm waters is a surreal experience, allowing you to feel connected to the earth in a way that’s hard to describe. However, we didn’t go for it since we had no trekking experience or interest.

While Passing through the road journey, we got to know about a place called “Tosh’. That’s an incredible place to explore where everything seems to be just awesome. This Village is situated at a high altitude and covered by 360-degree mountains. Where every scene was breathtaking. It’s becoming increasingly popular among travelers. It offers a unique way of staying and food options traditionally for travelers.

Once you arrive, you can enjoy the local hospitality, sample delicious Himachali cuisine, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the mountains that surround the village. If you are a dog lover, you will fall in again during Tosh’s visit. Because, every dog you get to see here is handsome, healthy, and intelligent. Dogs will act like a guide and believe me you will reach your destination easily.

Beautiful Chai ki Ketli

We came back to Kasol again. Because we felt there were many things left to do in Kasol. It is not just about trekking; it’s also about taking the time to soak in the serenity of nature. The areas surrounding the village are perfect for quiet walks, meditation, or simply sitting by the riverbank, lost in thought. The gentle sound of flowing water and rustling leaves creates a natural symphony that calms the mind and rejuvenates the spirit.

The Parvati River is the lifeblood of Kasol. It flows with a fierce beauty, its waters rushing over rocks and pebbles, creating a melodic soundtrack to your stay. Spending time by the river is a must—whether it’s dipping your toes in the cool water, enjoying a picnic, or simply lying back and gazing at the sky, the river offers a slice of peace that many seek.

By walking for 1-2 kilometers, we reached to Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib. Like others, we followed the traditional way of entering there. Since it was afternoon and Langar time, we took the food and roamed around. I observed that this place is quite unique as it offers a devotional vibe along with a nature view.

The area is always guided with precautionary things because the flow of the Parvaty River is too high here. It is advised not to go down the river bridge. During floods, even the Gurdwara is temporarily closed to visitors.

This is what a traveler experiences from his point of view. However, the local people of Kasol are more hospitable and warm welcoming. The locals love to share the stories and explore ideas from their point of view and that’s quite helpful. Their genuine smiles and willingness to share their culture create an impression to visit the places again and again.

Manikaran Saahib Gurudwara

If you stay at a local homestay or local guesthouse, that will allow you to engage with local people and their traditions. Families often open their homes to travelers, offering a glimpse into their daily lives. You can join them for meals, participate in traditional activities, and hear stories about the region’s history and folklore. You will be lost in the stories of Himachali people. They have so many things to let you know engagingly. They want travelers to know more about them. Be it history or any secret place, they will walk you through every story that will last a lifetime.

If you come across a pahadi traditional function, you will see the value and diversity of the culture. Something different in every aspect will last in your mind. During these celebrations, you will see colorful processions, traditional music, and dance performances.

While walking around Kasol, you will find a huge Israeli influence and people. That’s why Kasol is also called the “Mini Israel of India”. While passing the road, you will find many Israeli Graffiti, signboards, and language. Many Israelis have settled here, bringing their culture, cuisine, and way of life to the village. This blend creates a unique atmosphere that sets Kasol apart from other hill stations. Their cafes often have a relaxed ambiance, making them perfect for lingering over a meal while enjoying the views of the surrounding mountains. You’ll find a variety of delicious Israeli food, such as falafel, hummus, and Shakshuka. These establishments give relaxing vibes. I felt that Kasol should be renamed as “International Village’.

Let me tell you one more thing, if you are a foodie, you must try the local dishes too. Kasol’s local dishes can compete with many of Metro City’s cuisines. I am the kind of person who never misses a chance to taste food. I chose to go for Siddu which is stuffed with roasted onion and spices. It’s quite tasty.

Further, I observed around, Kasol is not only a destination for adventure but also a sanctuary for those seeking wellness and spiritual growth. The environment and stunning landscapes provide an ideal backdrop for yoga and meditation retreats. Many centers offer yoga classes that range from beginner to advanced levels, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the practice while surrounded by nature.

Apart from all these, I would say people should be responsible. As Kasol continues to grow in popularity, it’s essential for visitors to embrace responsible travel practices. Sustainable tourism ensures that the beauty and culture of the region are preserved for future generations. A lot of travelers litter here and there and few of the tourists keep playing music at high bass and loud sound, which creates a bad impression among locals. Please avoid such things so that locals always miss your departure from the place. They wish to have people like you in the future.

I preferred a sleeper class bus from Delhi which took me easily to Kasol. As per me, your travel duration will be an adventure. When to visit Kasol?

Whether in Kasol or all over Himachal, the weather changes more frequently than you imagine. However, Winter to mid-summer will be the best time. As road connectivity is the major mode of transportation in Kasol and during the Monsoon season, roads get damaged. So, avoid your visit in the Monsoon Season. If you are someone who can take risks and face any challenge. Kasol will always welcome you. Rest, September to May will be the right time.

As I wrap up my Kasol exploring article, I feel there are few things left to cover around Kasol. What hidden or secret place do you think is left to be explored and you would like to visit there?  Suggest me too in the comment section.
